Once set, push the knob for a moment, it will go to the main menu, turn the knob clockwise until you highlight exit, push again, and the main vario screen will show, and youre ready to fly. Push the S3 knob for a second, the unit will come on - it takes about 20 seconds to boot up and self-calibrate. #SCHEIBE MOTOR GLIDER MANUAL INSTALL#When you are preparing to fly, install the battery and turn on the master switch. There is a single knob (pushturn) on the lower left of the unit that controls everything. Mark pre-programmed almost all of the functions (including polar) and units, so you have very little to do when you want to use it. It is a standalone, electronic, TE compensated audio vario with altitude and speed to fly built in that uses very little power. #SCHEIBE MOTOR GLIDER MANUAL MANUAL#Scheibe Motor Glider Manual For Theīelow is the manual for the LX Nav S3 vario installed in the SF-34 front panel. The 75hp quoted seems to be consistent with a direct-drive conversion of a four-cylinder VW engine of about 2400cc displacement. The power source is a Limbach engine SL1700EA or L2000 EA( 60 80 HP ). No details available, but did not go into production. The certification is to the European JAR requirements. In later reports (J69-70toJ92-93), the Pieper STAMO 1500-1 and -2 engines are described as converted VW engines, but no bore and stroke are given. However, the bore (80mm) and stroke (74mm) of the STAMO 1400 are reported there to be the same as for the Porsche 1500 cc engine, not the bore (83mm) and stroke (69mm) of the VW 1500cc engine. Stark STAMO 1400A and B engines are not reported (J60-61toJ64-65) to have been converted from either Porsche or VW auto engines. The compiler cannot account for any STAMO production for 1965 to 1968 from contemporary copies of Jane's AWA. KG of Minden, see the Karl Pieper Website. This latter firm was founded in 1927 and continues in business today as Karl Pieper GmbH & Co. Later STAMO conversions were built by Pieper-Stark from 1968 and, from 1975, by Pieper Motorenbau GmbH, both of Minden, Westfalia, Germany with 600 engines delivered up to 1981. The immediate successor to Stark, briefly, seems to have been Stark Iberica SA of Barcelona, and Caspe, Zaragoza, Spain (J64-65). #SCHEIBE MOTOR GLIDER MANUAL LICENSE#Stark only converted these engines from about 1960 to 1964 and many were used in Druine D.31 Turbulent aircraft which Stark built under license from Avions Druine in France. STAMO engines apparently are Porsche or Volkswagen auto engines converted to aircraft engines. ![]() ![]() STAMO is the acronym for Stark Motoren engines originally built by the Stark Flugzeugbau KG of Minden, Westfalia, Germany. ![]()
